BitStrips Health Assignment

In Health, we have learned about cyber bullying. For the remainder of French classes in 2014, students will be able to work on creating a comic strip about cyber bullying. They may email it to me or print it out for a mark.

 

The instructions are:

Créer une bande-dessinée au sujet d’un personnage qui a un conflit associés à la cyberintimidation. Quel est le problème? Qu’est- qui est arrivé au personnage et l’intimidateur? 

Ta bande-dessinée devrait:
-inclure une histoire 
-utiliser des légendes, des bulles de texte, ou les bulles de pensée
- utiliser des gestes appropriés et les expressions faciales
-avoir les phrases complètes (les lettres majuscules, ponctuation, grammaire)

French Book Fair at the Toronto Public Reference Library

Bonjour!

I think it would be a great opportunity to promote a bit of French reading at Clairlea. This year from December 3rd to December 6th, the Toronto Public Reference Library (789 Yonge Street, just north of Bloor Street) will be hosting the annual Salon du livre de Toronto (French book fair). If you have a chance, I would strongly encourage you to visit the fair with your child. They can meet some of the authors and browse through the books. Scholastic Book Fair @ Clairlea: November 10th- November 14th.

Hi all,

Scholastic Book Fair is next week in the library.

Please send home, blog, tweet, email and write in newsletters, that the book fair will be all week in the library, including Thursday evening during Parent-Teacher Interviews.

Books fairs are an excellent way to get books into the hands of students and for a better price than stores.

Parent Teacher Interviews

Parent Teacher Interviews will take place on Thursday November 13th (3:30 P.M. -7:45 P.M.) and Friday November 14th (8:00 A.M.-12 noon). Please return the form given to the students as soon as possible to me and I will confirm a definite time once I have a schedule prepared. If you would like a phone interview please indicate it on the form along with a phone number. If you need an interpreter please indicate it on the form.

The test is out of 45 and make sure to read the questions well.

Progress Reports

In a couple of weeks, you will get the Progress Report. This Report will indicate how your child is progressing but there will be no mark. Students will know how they are progressing up until now. As I have explained to many of you whom I have met, some students are having difficulty completing the work based on the grade expectations. If this is a case for your child, I encourage you to discuss with your child and together create a plan which will help him/her to improve his/her overall marks. During the Parent's Interview, we can review this plan with you and your child so that your  child knows that we support him/her. In this Progress Report, there will be no Science comments for grade 5's and no Social Studies comments for grade 6. If you have any questions, please contact me via phone, email or note in the agenda. I would also like to remind you that the agenda should be signed everyday by you!

French Journals- October Entry

Just a reminder that you are to submit one journal entry from the topics this month by Wednesday October 29th (Day 1).

A reminder of the format:

• Typed 
• Double spaced, 12 pt font (Times New Roman, Calibiri, Arial) 
• 1/2 page to 1 page 
• Make sure it is written in SENTENCES and it makes sense 

Late journals will be subject to late marks.

Jeu de rôle : Un entretien

Bonsoir tout le monde,

This week I assigned an Interview Role Play assignment. Students know who they are working with and what topic they are discussing. Presentations will start on Wednesday October 29th.  Students may wish to film their interview ahead of time and show the video to the class (as long as I know ahead of time). An evaluation rubric was discussed today. This assignment is meant for students to have fun and be creative :).

Grade 5 Government

Bonjour tout le monde,

Students are to get their Citizenship Quiz signed for next day. Also, they are to complete question 3 in the "le gouvernement provincial" package on the map of Canada provided. It is to be handed in at the beginning of next day (Thursday October 23rd). Late assignments will be subject to late marks.

Friday October 24th: Our school registered for Student Vote Ontario therefore all grade five students will be voting for the next mayor of Toronto. Each class has learnt about the candidates and municipal government. . You may wish to find out how the vote happens on the following website: http://www.studentvote.ca/how.php.

Feel free to review the candidates with the students before the vote takes place.
